March 20: The Beginning of Part II of this trip: See you later, Austin, and Howdy Lake Tyler Camping!

March 20:   See you later, Michael, Lindsay, William and Howdy Lake Tyler Camping!

Dog - Sitting duties have ended.

Roux is one cool dog -- she definitely runs the clocks!  The change to daylight savings time is the only thing that saved us from 4:30 am walks, that her Army-Major-Doggie-Dad provides her with.  Only those "walks"  are 10 mile runs.  Or so.....

Here she is ready for her second daily walk in which she, and Doggie-Mom Lindsay escort grandson to his school -- about 1/2 mile away.

And here's William, about to turn 9, looking like he's on his way!

BB took us to a Texas State Park that's quickly becoming a favorite.  Tyler Lake State Park...

We've tent-camped there before, but this time BB got a van site next to the lake and the trail around the lake.   The NE Texas Piney Woods were abundantly dotted with wild Dogwood.  Much needed after our MesaTop high desert terrain.

The weather was cloudy and cool -- it earned us a short (2.5 miles) hike around little Lake Tyler and a campfire dinner.

Campfire building and cooking and....
Hiking and...

WOYAYA.      On to the Poverty Point UNESCO site today, and then Jackson, Mississippi Wednesday.

Retirement Lessons Learned:  Even if there's 1/2 bar of cell phone reception, it can be used!
