For those of you interested -- here's where Mark lives:
A very small elevator takes you to the topmost floor. It is TWO floors above the roofline seen in this picture where the walls follow the roofline and the windows all slant. It is wonderful. Here's what the inside looks like:
FROM THE ENTRANCE DOOR and clockwise through the apartment.
Front door! Stairs are to his roof terrace.
As much of the view as I could take.
The guest bedroom is the first room on the left -- where we slept in the shelter of the roof. Totally cool, but we proved it is possible to whack your head on the slanted ceiling. It only takes once to learn that lesson! Any mess in this picture is our detritus of ticket stubs and receipts from all the touring -- so much to see and do! The bathroom we were 'assigned' is a combo laundry/full bath. We were lucky!
Inquiring minds want to know
The view from the guest bath window-- also shows how the windows lift up to open. They are called kipp windows and are sturdy and easy to operate.
Straight ahead from the entry door
OK -- not a pretty picture -- 1.5 of his 2.5 bathrooms open across from the front door. Next to the bathroom on the left is the master bedroom.
Notice the doors on the left of this short hallway that open onto the balcony that he has, in addition to the roof top terrace.
Panoramic photo of the view from the balcony
The Kitchen
Panoramic view -- makes it look a little bigger than it is, but still a nice-sized kitchen. Wasted on Mark, perhaps -- he doesn't seem to cook!
Left wall of the kitchen -- same side of the building as the balcony
Middle wall of the kitchen. It has glass backsplashes -- a different color behind the stove (?). I now have seen the kind of back splashes I want in my kitchen in Durango!
Right wall -- sink and microwave, dishwasher -- lower right, and fridge, far right with fronts to match the cabinets. Typical of all the houses we've seen in Europe, but that sample is skewed to Embassy housing!
Fridge left, pantry right
Retirement Lesson -- Great to be hosted by your children, especially in such nifty places and welcoming homes.
VOYAYA
It is such a well appointed and thoughtful space. The furniture, the furnishings..and the wonderful physical space. A dream apartment.
ReplyDeleteWhat does he do with 2.5 bathrooms? Does he have one designated for #1, another for #2, and a .5 for emergencies?
