April was our "medical month" -- seeing all our docs in Virginia with pretty good reports! And we saw folks we love and always miss, we protested the Trump administration, and we watched winter turn to spring.
Here's a person we love: Cindy's Cousin, Cindy! (Yep, name's the same.)
She is pointing out her father's (my Uncle Bob's) ship's plaque at the Navy Memorial Visitor's Center in downtown DC after our now traditional visit to Jaleo -- our favorite restaurant in DC!She treated us to a member's breakfast, a talk, and a wonderful walk through the African American Museum. And she showed us the secret to answer the question we have all been asking -- why does the place look like this:
In recent years Cindy has introduced us to the Round House Theater in Bethesda. We saw "Bad Books" and if you get a chance to see it, you should. Then a couple of days later the National Endowment of the Arts pulled its grant funding for this play, just two days before its last performance. (Refer to the first picture on this page.) Photos are not allowed during the play.
Contining on about loved and missed family and friends from the DMV:
- A long awaited crossing of the paths at the Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond. One of the best such gardens we've visited was only made better because we met our #VanLife friends, John and Sally, there.
- A lovely lunch with Bill's brother David and his wife, Jane at the Silver Diner. It was fun to reconnect there! Like always, I got involved in visiting with folks and forgot to take the pics.
- Two of my previous (before retirement) colleagues had a party for all the Anatomy and Physiology faculty, and invited us old timers and our spouses. Lots of fun and lots of good food.

- Celebrating Easter at a gracious luncheon hosted by Mary Vander Maten and John Peterson at their home. We've been invited before and it is lovelier each year:

A colleague from pre-retirement days, Beth Harper, and I enjoy pie!
- Here's a new acquaintance: His name is Kurt and his 100th birthday is Sept. 27, 2025. We shared a table with him at a buffet held for the residents of Alexandria Sunrise Assisted Living Center. It turns out he was a German Soldier in WWII, who served some time in American Prisoner of War facilities in Germany and France. His mind was sharp and his experiences were fascinating. His advice, given three times over, and based on his experience as Hitler rose to power was to Believe what you are seeing before it is too late. I hope our paths cross again at a future buffet.
